Ready to be Made
Positioned at an intersection of beautiful and perverse, the series is an introspection on Desire and an inorganic Self, in a place where guilt and responsibility are dissolved by the function of satiation. Whether as an escape from reality or the satisfaction of a primal impulse, the subject is ready to be made into object.
Ready to be made is a series in development as part of the MFA project at Porto School of Fine Art. It revolves around the visual exploration of Desire and the idea of an inorganic Self. This exploration is translated through the fragmentation of the human figure into key fetishized elements and their combination with furniture.
Through the practices of modelling, moulding and altering antique furniture, the pieces play a the intersection of beautiful and perverse. The fetichistic act is then completed in video performances where the artist demonstrates the domestic function or ritual of each Ready to be Made.
