About the artist

Pedro Hugo Vilanova is a visual artist and architect based in Porto. His work focuses on the human figure and the visual exploration of space and emotions.

Pedro was born in Minas Gerais, Brazil, graduated in Architecture and Urbanism at the Federal University of Juiz de Fora and completed part of his studies in Portugal, at the University of Beira Interior. He is currently attending a Master's degree in Sculpture at Porto University Fine Art College.
In his art practice, Pedro seeks to unite his inner disorder with the vision of the world. He looks for material in unlikely places, collects what captures the attention, filters the experiences and creates something new. The artist and the architect often confront and feed off each other, the enormous interest in the human form is joined by the need to manipulate space and create an atmosphere of his own.
